Sweetly Sewn Sewing Sweet things just for You!

Small (10") Custom Embroidered Keepsake/ Memory Bear

$45.00

Tragically, so many of us grieve the loss of loved ones.  These bears are a wonderful memento commemorating those we've lost who will forever hold a special place in our hearts!

Simply send me a shirt( or other item of clothing) belonging to the person you wish to honor, and I will convert it into a sweet, huggable, teddy bear.

Just about every bit of these bears can be customized.  Please send me a message including  your preferences on the following:

Text

I am able to embroider any number of things on the tummy.

The quote on the bear pictured reads

  -  "If your love could have saved me, I would have lived forever.  Papa"

Other possible options include:

  -  "I'm made from a shirt you used to wear, whenever you hug me, know that I am there.  Love Grandpa/Grandma, Mama/Mom, Papa/Dad etc "

 -   " I have an angel watching over me, and I call him Daddy"

     "(name of person) Loves you.

  -  The birth stats of the person ie:

    "Grandpa Tom

    3/23/42-3/1/18

    Loved but not forgotten"

I can pretty much embroider almost any words you would like. We are only limited by what I am able to fit within the confines of the circle on the bear's tummy.

Although I will do my very best to accommodate your wishes, there is a limit to how much text will fit within the confines of the various text fields. Why can't I just shrink down the font size you ask? Unfortunately, the smaller the font, the worse the sew out quality.  As such, I'm unable to just "squish" down the text to make more words fit. It would, simply put,not meet our standard of quality. The best option is to send me a message with how you would like the embroidery to read and I will see if I can make it work!

NOTE:   I will embroider the text EXACTLY as you message it to me.  Please be sure to proof read before sending.  Once it's done, it's done.  I do not offer refunds or revisions.  I hate to be draconian but the digitization and  embroidery take a good deal of time and effort and supplies are not cheap.  Let's get it right the first time!

Fabric

I will be using a total of 3 fabrics.
    1.  Primary fabric will be the shirt you send belonging to your loved one.  This will be the head, body, arms, legs and ears of the bear.
    2.  Second fabric:  This is only the inner lining of the ears.  You may send a second item of clothing (shirt, hankie, tie, pants, etc.  I will only need a 4"x 9" cut for this part).,  Alternatively,  I can choose a fabric in a complimentary fabric to the Primary Shirt.
    3.  I use a solid white or cream  anti pill fleece or a soft fuzzy velour (depending on the color we choose) for the tummy patch and muzzle.  It is important this be a light, solid, color so that the embroidery will show clearly.

Thread

We can absolutely discuss color choice, and I would love suggestions,  however unless you have a very specific color preference, I will choose a thread color for the font. The reason I prefer to have the final choice is two fold.  First, I have years of experience which helps in knowing what colors compliment each other and will read best.  Second,  lighting, cameras, and variations in monitors make it exceedingly difficult (borderline impossible) to get a true depiction of what thread colors really look like through photos.

The two thread choices we can discuss:
    1.  Font color
    2.  If you have a dark colored shirt, we will discuss what color eyes you might like (whatever color we choose - blue, green, cocoa, lavender, etc must be very light in tone).  Bears made from dark colored shirts will have light eyes with black pupils. Bears from light colored shirts will have black eyes with white pupils.
    3.  I will choose the nose and mouth colors that best harmonize with the main shirt fabric.  I usually do some hue of pink for the nose.

Details

Bow

I have a variety of satin ribbon which I use to make bow's around the bear's necks.  Generally I will choose a color that best harmonizes the primary (shirt) color.  If you have a special request - I will see if I can accommodate it.   Please note:  These are NOT sewn on.  They are simply bows.  If you wish something more sturdy, for an additional $10 fee, I can make a removable bow-tie on an elastic band.  This is great if a child wants to play dress-up with the bear.

Tag

If your loved one happened to wear the designer of the shirt you are sending a lot, or it is made by a particularly nice designer... if you would like to remember the clothing maker for whatever reason, in most cases (assuming the tag is legible, in good condition, and able to be removed intact),  I am able to sew the shirt tag to the bear's bum - sort of where the tail would be.  Just another cute little optional detail.  I will NOT do this unless you specifically request I do so in a message.

Note:  Cost and method of clothing shipment to me is your responsibility.  Please choose the shipping carrier and option with which you are most comfortable.  I cannot be held responsible for the items while they are in postal care.
